We are looking for friendly experienced surfers to join the Froth team as surf coaches.

About the role:

The role is offered on a casual basis with varying frequency of work depending on the time of year/weather. We are keen to find local surfers who are looking for this kind of work long term. Full training will be provided for the right candidates. You will be responsible for teaching people of all ages how to surf and doing it with a fun energetic vibe. There will be work during the week, on weekends and in school holidays. This would suit a uni student or somebody looking to supplement their existing income. Potential for career progression and more opportunities as our business expands. All lessons will be held at either North Avoca or Terrigal Beach and the candidate must be able to drive/have their own car or be able to get to and from the locations as needed.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conduct Surf Lessons: Teach students of varying skill levels and ages how to surf, including fundamental techniques, ocean safety, and surf etiquette. Tailor lessons to individual needs and progress. Full training provided.

  • Ensure Safety: Monitor ocean conditions and assess risks to ensure a safe surfing environment. Provide guidance on surfboard use, water safety, and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain Equipment: Oversee the upkeep of surfboards and other equipment. Ensure all gear is clean, in good condition, and ready for use before and after each lesson.

  • Bring the Froth: Ensure clients enjoy a fun experience under your guidance. Our lessons, while also of a high quality, are supposed to be fun for our clients. We are looking for happy people who know how to bring the good vibes. Frothers encouraged to apply!

    Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold a current Ocean Safety Award or SLS Bronze Medallion

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate, CPR Qualification and Working With Children Check

  • Those with an existing Surf Instructor Accreditation highly desirable

  • If not, must be willing to obtain a Surf Instructor Accreditation (at our expense)

  • Must be an advanced surfer, confident in reading the waves and understanding tides etc

  • Experience in training and/or education highly desirable
